Mobile Home Ban

In Hancock County, leaders have taken steps to bar more mobile homes in residential areas. The county's planning commission voted on the ban yesterday. However, the commission delayed making a formal recommendation to the board of supervisors until the wording of the proposed change in the county zoning ordinance is finalized.

The commission is to formally act at its January 17th meeting. An attorney representing the Mississippi Manufactured Housing Association says no comment will made until the group sees the recommendation in writing.

The association wants assurance that existing mobile homes will be protected in the new law.
