Gulfport Adopts Smart Code

Gulfport has adopted Smart Code for future development. At a special city council meeting Tuesday, the six council members present voted unanimously to adopt the plan.

Proponents of Smart Code say it's designed to create better neighborhoods and businesses in Gulfport. The city's plan calls for using Smart Code guidelines to redevelop areas along Highway 49.

Mayor Brent Warr says the city has allocated $50,000 in the budget for architectural design, which can be used for Smart Code planning.
