Driving down the road, litter seems to be everywhere these days. And I ask myself, "Why?"
Yes, there is still hurricane debris. But this isn't debris left over from Hurricane Katrina. It's trash, plain and simple, caused by people and not a storm.
There are many things post-Katrina that we can't fix in a hurry. But we all can do something about litter, and we can do it now.
If you see litter pick it up. If you have some trash put it in a garbage can. If you just throw it to the ground, you're breaking the law. It is illegal in our state to litter and you could be fined hundreds of dollars.
It doesn't take much to clean up after yourself, and the reward is a better place for all of us to live.
