Arson Suspected In Moss Point House Fire

Fire gutted a Moss Point home Friday morning, and police believe they have the man responsible for the blaze in custody.

The fire happened around 10:30 Friday morning in the home of Calvin Edwards, near the corner of Scott and Davis Road. Fire freighters say the home was engulfed in flames when they arrived.

Investigators believe this is a case of arson, since they found trace amounts of flammable liquid inside. No one was injured but family members say the blaze destroyed a large part of their family's history.

Police were able to make an arrest based on information from witnesses and several key pieces of evidence linking the suspect to the fire. The name of the suspect isn't being released at this time.

The fire caused more than $100,000 of damage to the Edward's home.
