New Museum A Big Hit

The staff at the Armed Forces Museum at Camp Shelby didn't have time to catch its breath after the October 27 grand opening. The military museum had almost 5,600 visitors in its first month, half the number that visited all of last year at the museum's former location.

Director Chad Daniels said the museum has had a lot of school groups from Hattiesburg, the Coast and Jackson. The old museum closed in the fall of 2000 as staff started the move to the new 4.5 million dollar facility.
