Dangerous Pascagoula Intersection Gets New Lights

Pascagoula Police say accidents are a common occurrence at the intersection of 14th Street and Highway 90. That's why the city is adding lights on the highway, in an effort to prevent future accidents.

"We've got a lot of auto dealerships just north of the highway. It made it hard for folks trying to turn and they were turning in front of highway speed traffic. And when they did have an accident there, it was a bad one. I think this will be a big benefit for people trying to get from one side of the highway to the other, " Capt. Kenny Johnson with the Pascagoula Police Department said.

The project is being paid for with a $200,000 grant from Mississippi Department of Transportation. City officials say the lights should be finished by the end of February.
