T-shirts, flags, even air fresheners. If they're black and gold, or emblazened with the fleur-de-lis, they're selling fast.
Saints fans are snatching up all sorts of playoff merchandise for the exciting Saints-Bears NFC championship match this Sunday.
Some schools are allowing students to wear black and gold on Friday, and several businesses are hosting Saints spirit day. Whatever the occasion, fans want to wear their colors with pride, ready to see the Saints gobble-up some Bear stew.
"They do have a Colston. I saw a Colston over here," Rhonda Hawthorne said with excitement as she pointed to a bunch of jerseys.
A shipment of Colston, Bush and Brees merchandise arrived at Academy Sports in Gulfport Thursday morning, and fans were snatching them up.
"I'm just seeing what else they got new here," said Jim Brown of Gulfport. "I'm a die hard Saints fan."
"We are getting ready for the big weekend," said Vince Speech of Biloxi. "I will wearing mine Friday, Saturday and Sunday."
Saints shirts, car tags, towels, even rain gauges were going fast.
"It's been crazy actually," said Store Director Matt Smith. "The foot traffic's been up roughly 40 percent. Sales are up each day."
"I want this Bush in medium," said Billie Simoneaux as she held up a small, black shirt.
Simoneaux came all the way from Louisiana to find black and gold gear for her grandkids.
"We're going to go with Brees and Bush, and I found this one for me, grandma," said Billie Simoneaux.
When asked if she is a big Saints fan, Simoneaux responded, "Oh absolutely! Absolutely! We came from Luling, in St. Charles Parish, and we're here and shopping and found everything we wanted. Everything is out in New Orleans, and so we're excited."
"You can't find any t-shirts at all, only jerseys," said Larry White of Gulfport. "Of course, these are fairly expensive."
But die-hard fans are willing to pay the price. While most of the products are items you can wear or use to decorate your house, some are practical. For instance, you can buy a Saints hammer to fix your house, or to pound the Bears.
"And the Saints will win. They will definitely win this," said Rhonda Hawthorne of Gulfport.
"So we will be wearing them on Super Bowl weekend too, on February 4th," said Speech.
The store director said a shipment of Saints NFC championship shirts should arrive by Thursday night. But they will be locked-up in the back of the store. They'll only go on sale, if the Saints win on Sunday.
