Bay High Looks To Community For Help With Student Safety

Administrators at Bay High School in Bay St. Louis say it's going to take everybody in the community getting on board to help keep kids at the school safe.

Among the issues discussed at a community meeting Wednesday night were school violence and safety, gang activity and resources available to students who need to report suspicious activity. Parents were also informed of the confidential hotline they too can call should they need to report anything to school officials or police.

Last November, the school received some attention for a fight between two students that ended up on the popular site

Administrators say the fight, however, was no indication of an increase in violence at the school. They say they only had about six fights last year and have had no violent incidents since that fight.

Administrators credit the students of Bay High with not allowing a few students to overshadow the good going on at the school.
