Police Chief To Meet With Pine Hills Residents Thursday

A Gulfport community says it's ready to make the new year a safer one. Residents will be meeting with police to figure out a way to keep crime out.

The Pine Hills subdivision off Dedeaux Road will have a community meeting with Police Chief Alan Weatherford Thursday.

The meeting was called, in part, after an attempted burglary that ended in the murder of Harold Levron Jr. and Christian Suber-Smith earlier this month. Four teenagers face murder charges in connection with the deaths of the two who lived off West David Drive in Pine Hills.

Neighbors say they hope the community can figure out a way to keep trouble-makers out their neighborhood.

"Hope it can accomplish getting the young kids that's not going to school, the young men and women that's not going to school, to cartel back to their neighborhoods and not come up here. That's what I'm looking forward to," Pine Hills resident Sadie Williams said.

Again, that meeting will take place Thursday, January 4th, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. You can call the Gulfport Police Department if you would like more information.
