Man Arrested For Murder Of 18-Year-Old From Gautier

A Gautier man has been arrested for the murder of an 18-year-old college student early Sunday morning.

Jackson County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Joseph Burton Goff, 18, of Gautier Thursday evening. Sheriff Mike Byrd says because investigators are still looking into the case, he can't discuss the details behind the arrest.

Goff is charged in the murder of Kyle Todd, a Gautier native who was a freshman at Louisiana State University. Todd was killed when a bullet came through the window of his family's living room and struck him in the heart around 1 a.m. Sunday.

Goff is being held in the Jackson County Adult Detention Center, and is scheduled to make his initial hearing in court on Friday.

Sheriff Byrd says the investigation into the death is ongoing, but they do not expect any more arrests.
