Poplarville Coach Arrested For Statutory Rape

Poplarville High School Baseball Coach and teacher Cedric Earl Smith was arrested Friday for the Statutory Rape of a 14-year-old female student, Poplarville Police say.

The 35-year-old made an initial court appearance on Sunday. Poplarville Municipal Court Judge James H. Breland did find probable cause for Smith's arrest and bond was set at $30,000.

Police say Smith is out on bond. The investigation is continuing.
