Murder Suspect Arrested

A suspect in a Moss Point shooting death was arrested today when he appeared in City Court on unrelated misdemeanor charges. Moss Point Police investigator David Lawson said Edwin Lett is charged with murder in the December 2nd shooting death of Timothy Dickerson at a Moss Point motel.

Lawson says Lett was arrested when court personnel recognized him. Lawson says Lett was in court on charges of resisting arrest, trespassing and malicious intent that were unrelated to the murder charge. Police had received reports that Lett had left the Moss Point and Pascagoula area.

Lett was released today on 75-thousand dollar bond.

The Pascagoula Panthers open the 2017 football season on the road. In fact, their first three games are road contests. That scheduling quirk may give field turf crews just enough time to get War Memorial Stadium ready for the September 8 home opener. The wet weather in South Mississippi is placing quite the burden on construction workers as they attempt to complete stadium renovations. The project was suppose to be finished before the beginning of Pascagoula's football season.
