More Trouble For Beanie Baby Lady

A woman who served time in federal prison for a Beanie Babies internet scam is now accused of stealing the identity of an investigator who worked on the case. The U-S Marshal's Service has detained 34-year-old Connie Marie Olson and her 56-year-old mother, Sandra Ann Olson.

They're charged with making threatening or harassing phone calls to Robert Kay. According to a federal court file, investigators also are accusing the two of pretending to be Kay's wife and mother-in-law. Investigators allege that the women used Kay's name and position as a U-S postal inspector to rent apartments in Biloxi. Connie Olson and her father, Maynard Olson, pleaded guilty in 1998 to charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud. Authorities say the Olsons sold Beanie Babies to collectors over the internet, but never sent the stuffed dolls to the buyers.

Kay helped investigate that case. According to a U-S Postal service investigation, Connie Olson became enamored with Kay and began contacting him while she was in prison. Officials say Connie Olson and her mother are being held in an undisclosed area pending a hearing.
