A festival aimed at the growing interest in nature-based tourism is coming to Jackson and George Counties next year.
Community leaders and representatives from several conservation groups gathered in Moss Point to announce plans for the Wild Wing River and Nature Festival. It's a ten day event next April, featuring a variety of outdoor and educational activities in the two counties. The focus of the festival is the Pascagoula River.
The various eco-tourism events will include kayak trips and bird watching excursions along the scenic river.
"We want to showcase that and get those people that we know to be low impact really to appreciate that nature. We want to get them into that system so they can love that system and protect it as we will," Wild Wing Festival Organizer Leah Bray said.
