ORGANIZATION HELPS SAVE DOGS FROM BEING PUT DOWN

Greyhound Friends Of Gulf Coast Hold Special Day For Dogs

In an effort to save greyhounds and encourage more people to adopt them, Greyhound Friends of the Gulf Coast held a "day of fun" on Saturday.

More than 20 greyhounds participated in the event, not to mention their owners too. When greyhounds get too old and are not able to run, many of them are put to death. That's why the organization is putting a lot of effort into educating and increasing the public's awareness of the availability and desirability of greyhounds as pets.

Greyhound Friends is one of the busiest greyhound adoption agencies in the United States, and you can help by volunteering your time or making a donation.

Mississippi Public Service Commissioner Cecil Brown spoke Thursday morning at the Neshoba County Fair. And a portion of his remarks focused on the Kemper County lignite plant roughly 30 miles from the fairgrounds. "The Kemper story is not over," the commissioner said, "but one way or another it is nearing the end." Brown used part of his speech to explain the latest developments between his agency and Mississippi Power regarding its $7.5 billion plant.
