A Gulfport man is charged with capital murder in last week's death of a Harrison Central High School senior.
Christopher Shields, 30, is jailed on a bond of $5 million. Harrison County Sheriff George Payne says Shields has an extensive criminal record.
Shields is accused of robbing and killing 18-year-old Joshua Missledine. The coroner says he died of blunt force to the head.
Missledine was a cheerleader at Harrison Central High. His family reported him missing last Friday, and later that day, Gulfport Police found his car abandoned downtown.
Sheriff Payne says the teen was killed in a trailer off Highway 53 where his body was found Saturday. The sheriff says Missledine's murder was drug related.
"He'd been associating with these people for several months. He'd been at this trailer more than once and he had dealt with these people," Sheriff Payne said. "Very sad case, a very fine young man, had a bright future, but got himself involved with the wrong people, and those people killed him."
