National Guard To Build Two Readiness Centers In Jackson County

The National Guard is getting ready for future storms. They received approval Monday from the Jackson County Board of Supervisors to build two readiness centers.

One will be outside of Ocean Springs on Lemoyne Blvd. That 40,000 square foot facility will serve Biloxi and Ocean Springs.

The other shelter will replace the Pascagoula Armory, adjacent to the Trent Lott Airport in Moss Point, and will serve East Jackson County. Both sites are about 20 acres.

The centers will be able to put over 1500 troops on land before the next hurricane hits.
