President Carter To Help Dedicate Gulfport Habitat Homes

Habitat for Humanity's new director for Harrison County Chris Monforton made an exciting announcement during Friday taping of WLOX News This Week. He says a very special visitor will be coming to the Coast soon to promote their rebuilding effort here.

"We are very excited that President Carter is coming to help us celebrate 13 families moving into new homes December 9th. We've got 15 homes under construction in Gulfport on South Carrolton Avenue, and 13 of those homes will be dedicated that day," Chris Monforton told WLOX News. "President Carter heard about the good work we're doing here and wanted to be a part of that."

A milestone was reached this week when the walls were raised on Habitat's 500th Gulf Coast Home. By the summer of 2007, their goal is to build 1,000 homes across the storm damaged region.

We live in a wonderful time. We have the capability of instant communication with almost anyone at any time; all in the palm of our hands. We can stay connected to everyone all the time which is great - most of the time. There are times when we need to put aside our smart phones and do our jobs.
