Two Harrison Central High School Students Perish In Car Wreck

Two Harrison Central High School teens are dead after a losing control of their car in Gulfport.

Gulfport police say it happened around 3 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 49 near South Swan Road.

Officials say 17-year-old Kiara Pearse was driving the 1999 Honda Civic south bound on Highway 49 when she attempted to pass another vehicle. Pearse lost control of the vehicle, flipping across the median and landing in the northbound lane.

Her 15-year-old brother, Brian J. Pearse was in the passenger seat. Both were ejected from the vehicle. Kiara died about an hour later. Brian J. Pearse died late last night after undergoing surgery. Neither teen was wearing a seatbelt.
