The Mississippi Sea Wolves are hungry for a win and were looking for some help. 6-5, 250-pound tough guy Rob Skrlac has been loaned to the ECHL team from Albany of the American Hockey League. He'll make his debut 7:35 Thanksgiving Night in the Wolves Den when Mississippi entertains the Pensacola IcePilots.
Skrlac has played his entire pro career with the Albany River Rats and is under contract to the New Jersey Devils of the NHL. Last season in 38 games, he finished with 105 penalty minutes. This season, the 25-year-old native of Campbell River, British Columbia played two games with Albany and totaled 22 penalty minutes.
Coach Bob Woods says, "He definitely going to be a presence in our lineup. I expect Rob to bring leadership to our young team."
Thursday's clash with the IcePilots will be the third game of eight head-to-head battles with the Southwest Division rivals. The season is tied at one win each with the visiting team winning both games. Pensacola defeated the Sea Wolves 5-4 in the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on October 21st.
Following the Thanksgiving game, the Sea Wolves entertain the New Orleans Brass and former Sea Wolves player Patrick Rochon Saturday night at 7:35.
