Keesler Security Officer Honored

The outstanding work of a Keesler security officer earned him some special recognition.

The Coast Crime Commission and WLOX presented "Officer of the Quarter" honors to Technical Sergeant Patrick Gotte of the 81st Security Forces Squadron. Sgt. Gotte was recognized for his involvement in helping create a traffic plan at Keesler in the wake of the September 11th attack.

Traffic congestion around the base was greatly reduced once the officer's plan was implemented.

"We came up with a plan that basically alleviated the traffic flow and eased the burden off the civilian community. Basically, we just looked after the safety and well being of the community and the community of Keesler Air Force base," Gotte said.

Sgt. Gotte has 14 years of law enforcement experience, including the past five years at Keesler.

He's now in the running for "Officer of the Year" honors.
