Community College Partners With Navy

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College announced a new partnership with the U-S Navy.

Community college leaders and Navy officials have created a program to offer sailors an Associate's Degree in Pre-Meterology.

The unique program gives enlisted personnel the opportunity to receive college credit for their military training. Access to the program will be "on-line", allowing the college to reach out to sailors around the world.

"Sailors who are in the program will be able to take these courses to complete the Associate in Applied Science degree, anywhere they're based," said college president, Dr. Willis Lott.

Dr. Lott and a representative from the Navy signed an agreement to officially kick off the education initiative. It will be administered by the Naval Meteorology and Oceanography command at the Seabee base.
