Murder Trial Delayed

A capital murder trial has been delayed for a Jackson County man accused of killing his father, prosecutors said. Jeremy Dean Martin's trial had been scheduled to begin Wednesday, but was postponed because his attorney had a family emergency. No new trial date has been set.

Martin, 18, is accused in the March 22, 2000 death of Robert Bruce Martin, who was slain at the family's home in Vancleave. Martin and six others were charged in the case. Richard Jacobs was convicted of capital murder in July and sentenced to life in prison. Crystal Broadus, 18, who is also charged with capital murder in the case, was scheduled to go to trial this week, but it has been continued.

Still awaiting trial are Donne Ryals, Joseph Bailey and Christina Bastean. All face charges of accessory after the fact.
