Ocean Springs Announces New Parks & Leisure Services Director

The Ocean Springs Board of Aldermen has voted to hire Sean F. Campbell as the new Director of Parks & Leisure Services.

Campbell is currently employed as Program Director for the City of Gulfport Department of Leisure Services.  He boasts seven years experience in parks and leisure and is excited to hit the ground running in Ocean Springs.

"I am very excited to have been selected to be a part of the Ocean Springs Parks & Leisure Services team," said Campbell.  "There have been some great things happening in Ocean Springs, and I am confident that there will be plenty more improvements to come in the future."

"I am looking forward to working with the administration and recreation staff on not only bringing parks and recreation services back to a pre-Katrina level, but to continue to expand and improve services and facilities that will ‘raise the bar' when it comes to recreational opportunities along the Mississippi Gulf Coast," said Campbell.

Mayor Connie Moran is also excited about the addition of Campbell to the Parks & Leisure Services staff.

"We look forward to welcoming Sean as a member of our team," said Moran.  "He brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to our Parks and Leisure Services Department.  We are a ‘festival' town, and Sean's capabilities in orchestrating large events will not only be useful in scheduling our recreation activities, but also in enhancing our community's main special events and attractions."

"We express our gratitude to Geri Straight, who did an outstanding job as Interim Director during the national search for a new director," said Moran.

Campbell's employment is effective September 18 at an annual salary of $42,500. Campbell will replace Greg Eleuterius, former Director of Parks & Leisure Services.
