FEMA Offering To Sell Some Trailers

Some people who live in FEMA manufactured housing units, either on private property or in commercial parks, may be getting letters from the agency asking about their interest in buying the trailer.

FEMA has provided more than 37,000 trailers to families across South Mississippi.

The letters tell people that by filling out a "notice of interest" they are not obligated to buy the mobile home, nor does it guarantee their eligibility.

Here are a few of the purchase conditions:

  • When alternate housing is not available.
  • The trailers will be sold "as is, where is."
  • The unit must be the primary residence for at least a year.
  • Sufficient funds must be available to purchase.
