A Waveland alderman says he'll pay the fines stemming from his weekend arrest on charges of careless driving and disorderly conduct. Hancock County Prosecutor John Genin says Alderman Louie Smolensky faces a fine of up to 500 dollars and a maximum six months in jail for the disorderly conduct charge.
Genin says the maximum fine for careless driving is 50 dollars. Smolensky was arrested Sunday after he was stopped on U-S 90 in Waveland. Authorities say a deputy observed Smolensky allegedly driving across a lane. Authorities say the disorderly conduct charge stems from Smolensky's alleged refusal to cooperate with the deputy.
Smolensky says he regrets what happened.
