Privatization Put On Hold

The Harrison County Supervisors have put a halt to all negotiations and proposals to privatize the sand beach department. Since the summer, the board has talked about the idea, but District One Supervisor Bobby Eleuterius has never been convinced that privatizing is the way to shrink the county's 100-million dollar budget.

Bobby Eleuterius says some sand beach employees have already left the county because of the talk of privatizing. He says with layoffs at Ingalls, Beau Rivage and Casino Magic last week, this isn't the time to move ahead with a proposal that could cost some county employees their jobs.
