Kids Test New Playground Equipment At Biloxi Library

You can't keep a bunch of children away from a new state-of-the-art playground for long.

Monday, children from several Biloxi summer camps helped dedicate and try-out the newly-built Little Hands Playground. It's located behind the Margaret Sherry Library, off Popp's Ferry Road.

The Allstate Foundation and Injury Free Coalition for Kids built the playground to offer children a safe place to play, and help them heal from Katrina.

"I think a picture speaks for itself. Those kids are having a great time up there, and that's exactly what our intention was - to provide a playground for local neighborhoods, for children to be able to come and enjoy themselves and forget about some of the problems they may have had last year with the hurricanes," Allstate Sales Manager Steve Mayo said.

The Allstate Foundation donated $75,000 for the project. The group plans to build another playground at Gorenflo Elementary in January.
