Arthur "Buzzy" Lang Jr. Dies At 83

A well known and respected South Mississippian passed away this morning.

Arthur "Buzzy" Lang Jr. died at the age of 83.

The Gulfport native and WWII veteran was elected the city's mayor in 1975. During his tenure he met many influential people such as past Presidents Ronald Regan and Jimmy Carter.

He was also the owner and president of Lang Funeral Home in Gulfport.

His son Arthur "Bubba" Lang says "Buzzy" was a determined and caring man who lived life to the fullest.

"He was a great man; he was an honest man. He cared about the people on the coast. He proved that when he ran for Mayor. He ran against 7 other people and won on his first try," says Arthur "Bubba" Lang.

Lang is survived by three daughters, a son, two sisters, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Monday evening from 5PM to 8 at the Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home on O'Neal Road in Gulfport with funeral services to follow Tuesday, July 25th at 11 am at St. James Catholic Church in Gulfport.

    Multiple accidents on the I-110 bridge in Biloxi are causing major traffic delays.  Biloxi Police say both southbound lanes of the bridge are closed to traffic while authorities work to clean up after two separate crashes.
