Home of Grace Golf Tournament A Success

The South Mississippi heat and humidity only added to the fun at the Mississippi National Golf Club in Gautier, as both men and women competed for the number one spot while helping out a good cause all at the same time

"I think everybody is excited about getting back out on the golf course and enjoying themselves,"Home of Grace Executive Director Billy Barton says.

"We enjoy the game and the fellowship, it is like a reunion,"golf player Jeff Lowe says.

Especially after Katrina's wind and water put a stop to the last years golf game.

"That was the last thing anybody wanted to do is play golf after Katrina,"Barton says.

Despite the delay, tournament director Rusty Gibbs says South Mississippi residents and business leaders were back on the green Saturday to help raise money for Home of Grace.

"Everybody needs help and it is great stepping stone to a new life style."

A new life style Terry Douglas once thought was impossible until Home of Grace helped him recover from addictions to drugs and alcohol.

"People that come through, it changes their lives in such a way that instead of them being a hindrance to the community, they can actually do a lot of good, spread the word of God, and have a clean way of living."

Leaders with Home of Grace hope the money raised from this tournament will help others like Douglas turn their lives around.

"We want to be able to see lives changed and families reached."
