A Well Deserved Salute

Last night was an important night for the coast. It was the night the community says thank you to its military friends and neighbors. The 23rd annual Salute to the Military has a lot more significance this year because of America's ongoing war against the Taliban.

The hardest part has been trying to find a keynote speaker. Two different Pentagon officials had to decline invitations, so they could stay close to Washington. They've been replaced by the navy's senior admiral. Tonight's ceremony will pay tribute to the men and women fighting the Taliban. But its main focus will still be the relationship between the military and the people of Mississippi Gulf Coast.
