OS Artists Bring A Creative Touch To DRC

Three Ocean Springs artists are bringing colorful new life to an old building downtown. They're painting murals on the side of the former Swingster plant on Government Street. That building now serves as a Luthern hurricane relief center called Camp Victor.

Artists Cody Griffith, Matt Stebley and Vincent Palmer are painting the colorful creations that depict various coastal scenes. The project is not only brightening a building, it's a learning experience for the artists.

"We're using acrylic and it's a lot larger scale. There's a lot of learning about it. We have to get used to the cracks with the blocks and everything. It's a big learning experience," Griffith said.

For years, the building housed the Swingster Plant. Since Katrina, it's served as a disaster relief center.
