Biloxi Mayor A.J. Holloway wants the city council to hire a construction manager to make sure major street and drainage projects begin and end on time.
Holloway made that pitch Wednesday while speaking during an Edgewater Rotary luncheon. The mayor says the city has more than $50 million in projects. He says hiring a construction management company to oversee huge projects will give the city more control over the work and when it gets done.
"I'm not happy with the projects that we have that's supposed to be finished in six months, and it takes a year and six months to do. That's unexcusable. I want more oversight by someone who is in the construction industry, who has more time and capabilities for oversight, who has a proven record of getting the job done on time and within budget," Holloway said.
