A.G. Vows To Prosecute Anthrax Hoaxes

Attorney General Mike Moore says his office and federal authorities will work to track down and prosecute anyone responsible for an anthrax hoax in Mississippi. Moore said Tuesday his office has investigated numerous calls, but to this point no legitimate cases of anthrax have been uncovered in the state.

``There are some people out there who think this is funny. It's not funny. It's going to be a crime in Mississippi to do this,'' Moore said. He said until the state Health Department confirms and releases information on a positive anthrax substance, something that hasn't happened yet, any report should be considered a rumor or hoax. ``There is no reason to worry,'' Moore said. ``Relax and enjoy life in Mississippi. Let us take care of the problem if it comes up.''
