Michigan Students Perform For Storm Weary Residents

"I want to play, but I also want to be able to give back with hands on experience," said drummer Brad Lindsey.

The Saline Fiddlers will spend the next seven days aiding in hurricane relief and doing what they do best. By day, the 32 student musicians are helping clean up South Mississippi. At night, they use their musical talents to entertain other volunteers and storm weary residents.

"One's tools, one's musical, but they are both for a good cause," said violinist Aubrey Martinus.

Artistic Director Ben Culver says the Michigan students were anticipating this trip.

"The kids were really excited for a tour where they could work and help out by giving back with our musical skills," said Culver.

Martinus believes in the power of music. She wants the audience to hear a special message in their tunes.

"I am hoping that it will encourage them to stay strong," said Martinus.

During their stay, the Saline Fiddlers will have nine performances. If you'd like to find out where, you can visit their website at www.salinefiddlers.com.
