Wiggins Shooting Suspect Arrested In Biloxi

The man police believe shot and killed one person and injured two others at a home in Wiggins Thursday is under arrest this morning.

Biloxi Police arrested Gregory Glen Ferguson, 48, around three a.m. at an apartment complex off Fernwood Road.

Swat team members were called to the scene and the area was cordoned off. Police say they threw three smoke bombs into an apartment and moments later Ferguson was taken into custody.

Wiggins Police say Ferguson is charged with one count of murder and two counts of aggravated assault. He is being held at the Stone County Regional Correctional Facility.

The fatal shooting happened Thursday around nine a.m on Colville Road just off North Magnolia Drive. Tina Havard died at the scene from her injuries.

A man and a woman were also wounded in the shooting. One was longtime realtor Dottie Lanier who works for Prudential Gardner in Biloxi. She is in stable condition at Forrest General Hospital.

Authorities have not released the name of the young man who was shot, but do say he is in critical but stable condition.

Neighbors said they were surprised when the usually quiet Colville Road became the center of a murder investigation.

"The sheriff told us to get in the house and lock the doors cause my husband's crippled and he's got a shotgun by his bed," Marie Colville said.

Colville said the crime is shocking simply because of who the victim was. She said Tina Havard was a kindhearted woman, from a good family.

"They're very nice people. I just know them from coming by and visiting us all the time so, but they're very, very nice people. Certainly are and it's a shame that something like that happened to them."
