Murder Charge Reduced

A Saucier man charged with two shooting deaths is out of jail on bond after prosecutors reduced his murder charge. Harrison County Sheriff's Deputy Ron Pullen says evidence presented in Leroy Michael Knight's preliminary hearing did not support the murder charge.

Pullen says Knight is now charged with accessory after the fact to murder. Knight was released from the county jail on a 25-thousand-dollar bond last week. He had been held without bond since his arrest in August. Knight and 47-year-old Robert Wayne Stewart of Biloxi were charged with the fatal shootings of two Ocean Springs men.

Stewart was on parole for a 1977 murder conviction when he was charged with the murders. Prison officials said Stewart's parole was revoked. He was moved to the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Pearl.
