Coast Dogs In Line For Benji Movie

The search is on for the next Benji. America's favorite floppy-eared dog to star in a new upcoming movie. And Hollywood is paying a lot of attention to the Coast, because two dogs were discovered here that might just be the next Benji.

"The director of the Humane Society walked in today with this one right here that just came in. And the amazing thing about this is that both of the dogs came from shelters right here on the coast," Joe Camp, the creator of Benji told WLOX. "We want to raise the awareness about what wonderful dogs can be found out there in a shelter."

But that's not all. The original Benji also came from a shelter and went on to capture the hearts and souls of families nationwide. And ever since his move to the big screen, more people have adopted pets than ever before.

"The American Humane has reported that there's been a million adoptions because the first Benji was adopted from a shelter," said Camp. Which is good news for dogs like these still waiting for a family to give them their big break.
