New Development Chief Named

Governor Ronnie Musgrove has named Robert J. Rohrlack of Florida the new executive director of the Mississippi Development Authority. Rohrlack replaces J.C. Burns, who was fired last week as the state's chief of economic development. His dismissal followed word of his bankruptcy filing in September.

Rohrlack is president of the Alliance for Economic Development. The organization is made up of the Gainesville Council for Economic Outreach and the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce. He has more than 15 years of economic development experience. Rohrlack earned his bachelor's degree from Troy State University and a master's degree in economic development from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Mike Olivier, executive director of the Harrison County Development Commission, says Rohrlack is familiar with the tourism industry. Olivier says Rohrlack will bring a lot of enthusiasm to the program.
