Keesler AFB, U.S. Coast Guard Increase Alert

The U.S. military strikes are causing many state, local, and national agencies to increase their alert status, including Keesler Air Force Base and the U.S. Coast Guard.

A short time after the military strikes began, Keesler Air Force Base upgraded its alert condition to Force Protection Condition Charlie. However, officials say there have been no indications of security threats locally. Base officials are warning drivers to expect traffic delays around all base gates.

In addition to Keesler, a spokesman with the U.S. Coast Guard office in Gulfport says they have been performing more patrols in recent weeks. In addition, the interim port director in Gulfport says they have been closely coordinating their security efforts with the Coast Guard and U.S. customs.
