WLOX hired Danielle Thomas in 1998 as an editor and sports reporter. She then moved on to be the assistant assignment editor and eventually a news reporter/photographer.
Before moving to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, she spent a year working at WDAM-TV in Hattiesburg. She produced "Sports Journal," a half-hour football show that aired twice a week. She also covered area high school and college sporting events for WDAM and the University of Southern Mississippi newspaper "The Student Printz."
Danielle graduated Magna Cum Laude from USM with Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Radio, Television and Film and in Foreign Language.
Danielle is a native of Laurel, Mississippi and says living on the coast allows her to drive home for a without having to go very far.
She says working at WLOX has other benefits.
"Every day is different," she said. "I'm always learning something new and meeting new, interesting people. I've interviewed everyone from governors to former POWs."
On a personal note, Danielle enjoys dancing, baking, crocheting, and playing her guitar. In fact, you might be able to catch her act at some local night spots.
Danielle is the only daughter of Reuben Thomas and Janice Thomas.
You can e-mail Danielle at dthomas@wlox.com.
