The Island View Hotel Implosion

The Grand Casino Biloxi said goodbye to the Island View Hotel Sunday Morning.

Cherry Demolition out of Houston, Texas worked for three weeks to prepare what took seconds to take down. The implosion took place about 6:40 am Sunday.

400 pounds of dynamite were strategically placed in the pilings to make this implosion go off without a hitch.

The Island View Hotel was just East of where the Grand Casino barge used to float and south of Highway 90. The grand opening was April 15, 1995.

The wet weather in South Mississippi is placing quite the burden on construction workers as they attempt to complete stadium renovations. The project was suppose to be finished before the beginning of Pascagoula's football season.
