Former Gulfport Senator Clyde Woodfield Dies

Clyde Woodfield's family says he died suddenly Saturday night after suffering a heart attack. According to his wife, Mr. Woodfield did not know he had any heart problems.

He served as State Senator from Gulfport for 12 years and as a state representative for eight years. He also served as Commissioner of Police and Fire for the city of Gulfport.

Woodfield was born in Arkansas, but grew up in Gulfport. He graduated from Gulfport High School and then from the University of Southern Mississippi.

He is survived by his wife, four children and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday night from six to eight at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home on Highway 49. The funeral service will be Tuesday at one at the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport.
