A Hancock County church is gearing up for the skilled laborers needed to help residents rebuild their homes. Bayou Talla Church on Highway 43 in the Kiln has partnered with Samaritan's Purse Disaster Relief Ministries to help residents bounce back.
Volunteer workers are being housed inside the church, but as more and more skilled laborers begin to come to town, there is a need for more space. So trailers are being set up by Samaritan's Purse to help meet the housing need.
Mike Wells is the pastor at Bayou Talla Church.
"Samaritan's Purse is a ministry run by a team headed by Franklin Graham, the son of Billy Graham. In fact, Billy Graham's ministry has a lot to do with it. They provide chaplins who work here out of the church to visit folks who are really in distress, spiritually and psychologically, who really need some professional help," Wells said.
