Eight Year Old Girl Win National Art Contest

Caroline Whitfield, eight years old, from Picayune won 1st place in the "NanaBanana" national art contest.

It's a contest put on by artist Elizabeth Malkin, who creates giant coloring books based on children's novels. The books are sold in stores like FAO Schwartz.

Caroline painted a scene from Louis May Ellicott's "Little Women." Her art was framed and displayed at the International Toy Fair in New York in February.

Caroline will be displaying her artwork on Saturday at Oleanders Gallery in Picayune on West Canal  from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.

Caroline has always enjoyed painting and seems to have a natural talent. Her parents Jennifer and Jonathan Whitfield couldn't be more proud.
