Marine Debris Removal Set To Begin In Coastal Counties

The Coast Guard has awarded contracts to begin removing marine debris from three areas - one each in Hancock, Harrison and Jackson Counties.

W.C. Fore will clean up five spots in Henderson Point. The company also has the contract to clear out debris in Jordan River Isles in Hancock County. The contract is for $5 million.

Childerss Marine of Gulf Shores, Alabama will remove debris in Pascagoula in waterways near Enger and St. Mary Streets. That contract is for $1.5 million.

The companies have 90 days to do the work and it should start next week.
