Vancleave Man Wins Fight Over Vanity Tag

A Vancleave man has won his battle to keep a vanity tag the state first deemed inappropriate.

The tag on J.J. Smith's motorcycle reads "MYHIGH" and he's had it for the last four years. But last week when he went to renew the plate in Jackson County, the clerk told him the message on his vanity plate, according to the state, was now inappropriate.

State officials say they have a new computer program that decides which personalized tags are offensive and which ones aren't.

Official say Smith's tag was probably filtered out because the word "high" could be a reference to drugs.

Smith says drugs have nothing to do with his plate, he just loves riding his bike.

After talking to the state car tag office, Smith was allowed to renew the "MYHIGH" plate.
