An Air National Guard unit from Gulfport is being called to duty in America's war on terrorism.
The 255th Air Control Squadron is one of 29 National Guard and Reserve units mobilized Thursday by President Bush. There are 260 members of the 255th, who monitor the tracks of commercial and military planes.
In 1999, 90 members of the 255th Air Control Squadron spent six months in Kuwait helping the United States enforce the no-fly zone over Iraq.
In all, more than 5,100 national guard members across the country have been orded to report for active duty.
