A Coast Church Extends Its Hours During Crisis

A number of coast churches are opening their doors beyond regular hours for those who want to pray about last weeks tragedy. At Trinity Methodist in Gulfport, the church is making its chapel available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The church's board of trustees made that decision on Sunday. The chapel is not just for church members, but anyone who wishes to use it. According to the church's co-pastors, its all about giving people a chance to get closer to God in this time of crisis. "We have found that the greatest need and response of Christians at this time is just a chance to be in prayer about this."

"Plus it's just something we felt we had to try to do, and truly want to do," says the Reverend Jim Metheny. Trinity Methodist is located on Lawson Avenue in Gulfport.
