Free Chairs Offered To Local Churches, Non-Profits

If you represent a church or a non-profit group in the area and you need some chairs, the Coliseum has quite a deal for you.

The facility is throwing away 10,000 chairs that were significantly damaged by the hurricane. Right now, the rusted seats are scattered around the coliseum parking lot. Coliseum Director Bill Holmes has permission to give them away for free.

"Now, they went underwater," Holmes warns. "People have to understand that they're rusty. But what's happened though is the groups are telling us that they're sanding down the chrome and then they're painting the chrome. And it's going to get them by and get them over the hump for a short period of time. And that's what we want to happen."

Interested groups should stop by the Coliseum and request permission to pick up some of the free chairs.
